EBOLA: THREE NEW CASES IN GUINEA

Three new cases of Ebola have been confirmed by the Government of Guinea – although the country was declared Ebola free last December.

According to some scientists, that the Ebola virus may become an ever-present disease in West Africa is a risk to be considered, whereas the World Health Organisation (WHO) has claimed that sporadic cases of Ebola are likely to re-emerge, due to virus persistance in some survivors. Hence the need of remaining on high alert and ready to respond.

Guinea, together with Sierra Leone and Liberia, is the country where the outbreak of the virus was most prominent.

The WHO will send a team of epidemiologists, surveillance experts, vaccinators and anthropologists to deal with the new cases, investigating the origin of their infections and monitoring their overall healthcare conditions.
