EMA ANNUAL REPORT 2015

At the end of May the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has published its annual report for 2015, which is its 20th.

Among the accomplishments achieved by the agency over the course of the past year, the following are mentioned: one of the most noteworthy is the new PRIME (PRIority MEdicines) scheme, aimed at supporting the development of medicines that address unmet medical needs; several initiatives to target antimicrobial resistance and other public health threats; several initiatives to further strengthen the safety monitoring of medicines; others to advance the development of the clinical trial portal and database (a key contribution to the 2015 EU Clinical Trials Regulation).

In addition to that, 93 medicines for human use were recommended for marketing authorisation by EMA last year.
