Improving the lives of people with dementia

The Council of the European Union invites the Member States to address dementia as a priority issue to be faced through cross-sectorial national practices and specific health care plans in order to provide appropriate treatment and assistance: these are the conclusions of the Council of the European Union’s meeting held on the 7th of December 2015, whose subject was “Supporting people with dementia: improving care policies and practices”. The Council recognised that “continued collaboration among Member States and at a EU level – taking into account WHO activities – will allow for a valuable contribution to improve the support of people living with dementia”, and also encouraged an active inclusion of their representatives in the decision making-process.
