The EACCME Conference (European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education) took place in Brussels on the 8th and 9th of March, under the theme “EACCME 3.0: The Next Frontier. The Pan-European CME-CPD Partnership”.

The event, organized every two years, is an opportunity to bring together in the same space the main actors in accreditation in the area of continuing medical education, such as event organizers, reviewers and entities that grant accreditation in Europe, the United States of America and Canada , as there is a mutual recognition agreement between UEMS-EACCME (Europe), the AMA (American Medical Association) and the RCPSC (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada).

This conference addressed the main developments in the area of accreditation and identified the main challenges to be faced in the near future. An extremely significant moment was the signing of the cooperation agreement between UEMO (European Union of Family Doctors) and UEMS-EACCME, after several years of negotiation.

The enormous relevance of this agreement is related to the fact that it ensures that the application for accreditation of scientific events in the area of General Practice / Family Medicine will (finally) have Family Doctors as reviewers.
